I was on LZ North English. There was an incident right outside the perimeter that resulted in two children being killed. I was in the S5 section at the time and brought solatium payment to the family of the children. I am planning a trip back to the area and would like to see I can find the incident report that details the incident. My memory is so unclear as it relates to dates. I hope to be able to visit the family again.

I served at the church in Bong Son (Stag 11)that had been refurbished for future services. We were hit by zapper teams that had completely destroyed the RVNS on the other side of the church and our compound which had also been destroyed with no casualties on our side. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that may have more pictures of the church and any information about any teams that might have taken over after we left. We later left the church area for a closer stag position (Stag 13).

I served with 4/D/173rd ABN Brigade Nov.1970 - Aug 2,1971. If you served with the D company or was wounded on the mtns above L.Z. English during the Brigades stand down to come on Aug 2, 1971, email me. The men wounded on that date could possibly be the last troopers wounded with the 173rd during its service in Vietnam. I have seen David Rogers, Stanley Johnson, Gilbert Gozales and Johnny Torres and have had contact with Jack Shasty and Gary Bonaquidi. Time is going by fast. Let's contact all the men we know and get together at the 2009 reunion in Daytona Beach, Florida.

I finally got to meet him when I was a teenager. I would have liked to have known him better, he took his life in 1988. Anybody with any info good or bad would be appreciated.

I am trying to locate GARY HOFFMAN fo PA., DENNIS OWEN I think Mn. and ERNEST CHOQUETTEE from Vermont, a few friends from 70-71, B company, 4th Batt. Our home base was LZ English. If you are still around I would like to hear from you. Thinking back, you all made the bush easier to deal with. Anyone remember our squad being on a "Hawk" on a hill, then being attacked by an Oranatan at "0 dark thirty." At first we thought were being over run, Anthony got scratched up by the ape, Steven Davis shot at it accidentally hitting one of our own black "brothers" (can't remember his name)in the leg. BooCoo shots were fired on auto-get-em. The Oranatan duffed, we had to do a nightime medavac of our buddy for a leg wound. Anthony was later given a Rabies shot series. I don't think Headquarters wanted to beleive our story.

Thank you Mr. Smith for responding to my message. My brother was in fact in 3rd platoon, would you have been in any of the photographs taken with them ? Were you a RTO also or did you just train them ? I had talked with a man who had called looking for my brother about 15 years ago his name I think was "Duke". Like I said I have a photo and he had listed everyone by nicknames, did you go by Smitty? Can we stay in touch by email or by this site ? I would like to find out where he served in Nam and so on....again thanks so much......Pat

Hey, my brother served in Dog company at the same time, April to April 68-69. I have not been able to find out much about him, he to passed away after coming home, I have an article that appeared in Fire Base 173 in 14 Oct. 68. They had eaten a large lizard and my brother whose name was Edward Parsons said it tasted like squirrel, he was from Texas. I have a platoon picture taken in Tuy Hoa. It has been hard to find anyone who was in Dog company, my brother was a Radio O. and a M60 gunner, sounds like your brother in law may have been in the same area as my brother, stay in touch, I will try to put the picture on this site, thanks Mr. Green.......Pat

My brother in law, PFC Ronald (Ronnie) E. Smith served in VN in the "Valley of no return" with Dog company, 4th Bn 503 Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade in 1968 and 1969. I was very close to Ronnie serving as his best man at his wedding. He married my wife's sister-so we were family. Ronnie returned from VN, got a job in a coal mine near his home in Oak Hill, WV and was killed a few years after coming home, leaving three children and a wife. I was just wondering if anyone reading this knew or served with Ronnie in VN. Thank you. Carson Greene, Jr.

To Daniel Greenlaw. . saw your post inquiring about those on Hills 823 & 830. I was on both hills and Hill 875 with B/4/503 1st Plt on the machine-gun crew. I served with Mike Atwell and James Worrell on that crew until 875 where James was KIA and Mike hit in the jaw and medivaced out. I am not sure we knew each other but if you saw the documentary A Soldiers Story, The Invisible Enemy you might recognize me if we did know each other, I am the one in the black beret on the film.

Hello everyone. I am trying to track down a couple of friends of my Dad's from Vietnam. My Dad, SP4 Michael P. Hall, served from June 1969-November 1971 in the 4th BN. 503rd Infantry 173rd Airborne Echo Company. My Dad was carrying a radio pack when his jeep crashed throwing himself, the driver, and a scout from the jeep. My Dad believes the driver was either Sgt. E5 Browning or Ebberts and can't recall if he made it after getting out of N English. I can't find either individual in the memorial wall databases, which I hope means that they made it out of there tours ok. If anyone has any information on either individual I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time and service!

He's originally from Ohio and was stationed in Ft. Campbell, KY before Vietnam. He was wounded when a jeep that he was hiding under was blown up. If any of you remember him, please contact me. Corporal Michalopoulos was raised in East Providence, Rhode Island and graduated from Shea High School in 1966. After graduating, Corporal Michalopoulos went to work for his Uncle at an area Baking Company before enlisting in the Army. Corporal Michalopoulos died while missing in action in the Kontum Province of South Vietnam during the battle of Dak To on November 21, 1967. Attention members of the 4th Battalion B company. If many of you have not heard one of your own has passed away on December 21 2004. His name was Larry Hoy and he served in Vietnam in 1967. Larry was a good friend of mine we served together at Fort Bragg in 66-67, he never got over Hill 875. His body was creamated and ashes spread in Vermont. Many of us will miss him dearly and wish his family the peace of heart for he has gone to a better place and now has peace of mind. As for me I served with A company during that time but we both continued too see each other when ever possible.

He was from Detroit. Vic went above Cpt. Severson's orders and had me medevaced out of the jungle in July 1967. If not for Vic I would be dead. I have some slides of him in the boonies also. I'd really love to get hold of him. Thanks to any and all and God Bless the 173d Airborne, the best damn unit EVER!!! Sorry Eagles and All Americans but you can't shine our boots.

It's good we gather together with family and friends and ask a blessing for those that went before us. Also for those serving now and hope they kids never have to get it as bad as we had it. Like one of the kids said at the 2004 reunion: "You guys left a tough reputation to live up to." Merry Christmas to all.

My new husband: Staff Sgt Kochis. Anyone know him? Or his best friend, Jimmy Brunswick Jr, whom I think died in Saigon??? Ssgt K got a purple heart in tra ba bong, served 2 terms, between 69-71. When we get into newlywed tiffs, he yells: "I was killing VC while you were still in diapers!" I reply, "Honey, your term ended 12 years before I was born." He says: "Oh. I love you, baby."

I live in San Diego and would dearly like to go to the Reno reunion. But I have waited too long to get a good airfare rate (especially since I have been out of workk for 23 months). Is there anyone out there that is going to Reno from the San Diego area that could use another driver/passenger/gas paying person? It may be just me or me and my girlfriend. I'm even thinking of renting a car, where I would be interested in someone who needs a ride and is willing to share expenses. All the Best, All the Way.
